The US spends the most on maintaining and producing nuclear weapons

Global spending on nuclear weapons has risen to $82.9 billion (€78 billion), with 12,500 nuclear weapons in the world in 2022 and nine states modernizing and expanding their arsenals; says a report by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).

The US committed $43.7 billion (€40.6 billion), slightly less than in 2021.

Washington is followed by Beijing with spending of $11.7 billion (€10.8 billion), an increase of 6%. Russia is in third place with 9.6 billion dollars (8.9 billion euros). 5.74% more than last year.

At the same time, the most significant increase in spending was observed in India - 21.8%. For the UK, it was also in double digits (just over 11%).
